twenty percent (20%) of the cost of Rs. 6138/- as initial deposit within 30 days of the date of offer and remaining amount with interest thereon in seven annual equated installments. The interest will be charged at the rate of 9.75% on the amount outstanding and due from time to time. In case of default in payment of the amount of an installment on the due date, penal Interest at the rate of 2.75% will also be charged in addition to the normal rate of interest. The amount of Government dues and sale proceeds of tenements may please be remitted to the Deputy Controller of Accounts (Rehabilitation). Jamnagar House, New Delhi, in the manner indicated in this Department's letter No. 36(2)/80-RR dated 1.2.1982.
4. Besides the disposal of remaining tenements. Government of India has also been considering the question of transferring the entire Behala Colony along with vacant land to the State Government. The State Government had desired vide letter No. 127-H&M deted 27.5.1988 that the vacant land as well as the colony may be transferred free of cost to them on 'as is where is' basis. The municipal services of the colony have already been transferred to the South Suburban Municipality, Calcutta vide letter No. 32 ( 10/72-RE/RR dated 21.2.1981. After due consideration, it has now been decided to accept the State Government's proposal and transfer the Behala Colony with the vacant land free of cost to the Government of West Bengal on 'as is where is' basis. This is however, without prejudice to the fact that ownership of the land clearly vested with the Central Government. Government of India will not be liable for any expenditure whatsoever on account of maintenance etc. of these properties/land.
5. This issues with the concurrence of Finance Branch vide their I.D. No. 1058/Fin/89 deted 3.10.89.
