of displaced persons etc. and transfer of colony to State Government free of cost on 'as is where is' basis
of displaced persons etc. and transfer of colony to State Government free of cost on 'as is where is' basis
Sir,
I am directed to say that an area of about 70.70 acres of land was acquired in Behala Colony in Calcutta for rehabilitation of migrants from former East Pakistan on which a total of 752 tenements were constructed and 648 of these tenements were converted as 324 double roomed tenements. In the year 1974, Government of India issued a sanction for transferring these 324 double roomed tenements to the existing willing and eligible allottees and other eligible migrants from former East Pakistan vide this Department's letter No. 46 (4)/67-RE(Vol. V) dated 22.5.1974. 24 more single roomed tenements in this colony were approved for disposal by sale to police personnel who were in possession of the tenements vide this Department's letter No. 4 (24)/84-RR dated 11th February, 1986. The question of disposal of the remaining 80 tenements in this colony has also been engaging attention of the Government of India and it has now been decided that these 80 tenements may also be transferred to the existing occupants, subject to the condition that the tenements may be transferred to occupants who are displaced persons at the same rate and conditions at which the 672 tenements were transferred earlier and occupants who are non-displaced persons may be charged the present day cost minus depreciation. The State Government will immediately work out the present cost minus depreciation in consultation with the technical authorities and intimate the amount thus worked out to this Department for formal approval.
In regard to transfer of tenements to displaced person occupants, the terms and conditions as set out in this Department's letter No. 46(4)/67-RE(Vol-V) dated 22.5.1974 and 12.8.1975 as applied from time to time would apply mutatis-mutandis.
3. The price of the single room tenement, which had been provisionally assessed at Rs. 6138,- (Rupees six thousand one hundred and thirty eight only) per tenement will be recovered in one lumpsum from the displaced person allottees or they may pay
