A NEW GROUP OF COLONIES – 998 GROUP
The State Government on consideration has decided for conferment of free-hold right and title in respect of homestead land only to eligible refugee families living in squatters’ colonies which have not yet been recognised by the Government of India, but which are situated wholly on lands belonging to the State Government. This decision has been communicated under the G.O. No. 3474-Rehab/S-715 (R)/95 dated 29.12.95 (ANNEX-7).
Subsequently in another Govt. Order No. 2724(30)-Rehab/7L-14/96, dated 20.12.1996, (ANNEX-8) proforma of report on particulars about the colony land etc. has been annexed. The procedure of undertaking the survey of the lands on the colonies is also annexed at ANNEXURE-8.
The purpose of preliminary survey is to ascertain the following two points viz.
1. Whether the entire colony land belongs to State Govt. (vested/khas or Departmental land).
2. Whether the 80% of the inhabitants of the colony are refugees.
